PREMIERE: Maari’s new single Breathe is an ocean of alt-pop glory

There’s something undeniably captivating about the music of Maari. With a small string of consistently great singles under their belt, the Sydney-based duo have quickly carved out a sound that feels simultanously grounded and explorative; it’s rooted in alt-pop, but reaches far further.

With the release of their latest single Breathe, the two-piece continue to establish themselves as one of the Aussie pop scene’s more promising and exciting emerging acts. If you’re not already familiar with this name, we strongly recommend you change that.

On their new single Breathe, Sydney-based two-piece Maari craft an immersive and explorative slice of electro-pop brilliance.

Throughout the new single, Maari—made up of Bronte Maree and Kabusii—glide through a glassy concoction of indie-pop and electronica to craft a sound uniquely their own. With sprawling synth lines, layers of soaring vocal melodies, and flawless production, Breathe is oozing with endearing pop charm.

Across its three-and-a-half-minute run-time, the track builds into something completely spell-binding. Each element of the song seems to double up on itself, until your left completely immersed in an ocean of electro-pop brilliance.

These still may be relatively early days for this Sydney duo, but judging by the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more great tunes.
