Intrepid Sydney songwriter Mark Harding recently took a road trip up to Alice Springs. What he returned with was a brand new clip, set to his sophomore single Thorn In Your Side.
A longtime obsessive for the hard wackiness of Australia’s landscape, Harding has consistently employed the warm colours, Martian shapes and stark emptiness of the desert into his art. This clip is no exception.
Filmed between Arckaringa, Tibooburra and a white wall in the much more populated Newtown, Thorn In Your Side is whimsical and familiar, yet somehow otherworldly. For a song concerned with life as an outsider, it’s a fitting accompaniment.
A fan of the Aussie topography and all the weirdness it brings, Mark Harding has danced straight into the desert for his debut film clip Thorn In Your Side.
Written and produced by Harding, Thorn In Your Side marks his second single since embarking on a solo career. With his debut track Say It Too clocking up one million streams already, it’s an easy bet to say Mark Harding is going places.
Harding brought in Guy Burns and Todd Dixon on engineering duties for the single, while mixing fell to Tony Buchen and mastering to Steve Smart. There are some serious chops on this track, and it shines through brilliantly.
For someone so early into his solo career, Mark Harding is getting booked all over the joint. Catch him live over the next month at the dates below:
