Brisbane’s Mermaid Avenue have been releasing music for a number of years now, and in that time they’ve developed an incredibly endearing sound that few bands can pull off.
There’s no bullshit here. The music is earthy and authentic, and holds the uncanny ability of roping you in and maintaining your undivided attention for any extended period of time.
On their debut album Temptation And Half The Truth, Mermaid Avenue present a collection of incredibly endearing new songs that you won’t be able to stop listening to.
Today, the five-piece share there new album Temptation And Half The Truth; a collection of ten incredibly captivating new songs.
Throughout the album, Mermaid Avenue glide through a unique blend of indie-rock, alt-country, and folk to deliver a sound that belongs entirely to themselves.
Based around the songwriting of Peter Clarke, the band’s rich sounds are filled out by members Darren Madeo, John Doyle, Anthony Judd and Marc Besselink.
While this album is not the first we’ve heard from the band, it is there debut album… and let me tell you, this is a damn solid first full-length offering.
“We wanted to make a traditional album – one you can play from start to finish,” the band say of the new album.
“Lyrically, the album charts the ups and downs of relationships from first kiss to the ‘bliss’ of domesticity along with the darker themes of losing loved ones, lost time and jealousy.”
