PREMIERE: Paper Sunsets deliver indie-rock euphoria on Your Eyes

Since forming in 2015, Adelaide-based outfit Paper Sunsets (formerly Oceans) have carved out an incredibly unique space for themselves in Australian indie-rock scene. Their music is simultaneously infectious and heartfelt; it balances between bright, dynamic instrumentation and emotionally resonant lyricism.

Now, with the release of their latest single Your Eyes, the band continue to establish themselves as a band to watch. If you’re not already familiar with these guys, we strongly recommend you change that.

On their new single Your Eyes, Adelaide-based outfit Paper Suns craft a dynamic and emotive piece of indie-rock brilliance.

Throughout the new single, Paper Sunsets—made up of guitarist/vocalist Toshiro John Glenn, keyboardist/vocalist Sam Upton, guitarist Matt Ryan, bassist/vocalist Caiden Crafts, and drummer Nick Thomson—glide through a shimmering concoction of alt and indie rock sounds.

With layers of euphoric guitars, pounding drum beats, and spirited vocal melodies, Your Eyes is the kind of song you can get lost inside of completely. Across its punchy three-minute run-time, the song builds into something truly cathartic. All parties involved—the band and the listener—are gifted a sense of emotional release from the soaring arrangements.

This is the latest in a string of consistently great releases from the Adelaide band, but judging by the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more great tunes.

In the meantime, do yourself a favour and listen to the new single above.
