PREMIERE: Psychedelic Porn Crumpets unleash cosmic B-sides compilation Old News For New People

Psych-rock renegades Psychedelic Porn Crumpets are no strangers when it comes to crafting tunes that go beyond the limits of the conceptual sphere.

Often lifting us to new realms entirely with their fuzzed out tunes, they’ve today unleashed a six track series to transcend consciousness. Introducing Old News for Old People, a new B-sides compilation.

Incorporating those head banging vibes we all know and love, Old News For New People also showcases an atmospheric side to Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.

The compilation is spaced-out ride through a rainbow of atmospheric synths, glistening textures and electrifying guitar riffs. Beaming with reverb, fuzz and a consistently varying pace, the six-track masterpiece demonstrates once more the boys’ overall versatility as a band.

As its packaging would suggest, Old News for New People is a B-sides collection to sit beside High Visceral {Part 1} and followup High Visceral {Part 2}, twin entries into Australia’s growing psychedelic compendium.

The conclusion to the High Visceral series takes a more personal path, exploring the band’s sounds on a deeper level than ever. Experimenting with sitars, synths, polyrhythmic violins and Vietnamese drone flutes, it’s fair to say the boys have well and truly tapped into the spirit of psych rock with Old News For New People.

It’s hard to put a finger on just one favourite when there are six shimmering tracks of intergalactic goodness, from the meticulously flow of Made Machine to the playfulness and minimalism in The Thinker. Little Moon is stacked with their signature drone and Jack McEwan’s heavy vocals, while Pi and Entropy II reside in a more dreamy and ambient universe.

Terraqueous is the perfect blend of past and present, combining the rancid fuzz the Perth four piece are so greatly known for with their newfound sentiment. Overall the compilation is another mind-rending offering from Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, who never cease to impress.
