PSA: Mac Demarco is selling his ratty old couch for charity, and you should buy it

A few weeks ago, Mac Demarco announced that he was selling some signed test pressings of his 2012 debut album Rock and Roll Night Club to raise money for the hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.

If you didn’t your hands on a copy, not to worry. You can now bid for his ratty old couch on eBay instead.

Update: Bidding for the couch has ended, selling for $5,700 CAD (approximately $5,850 AUD)!

Mac Demarco Couch

Mac DeMarco’s former Montreal label Arbutus Records is auctioning off his old couch – which he supposedly wrote the majority of 2 on – for charity.

DeMarco’s former Montreal label Arbutus Records is auctioning off the couch, with the proceeds going to charity at Mac’s behest.

Arbutus say that he wrote the majority of his breakthrough album 2 on it (plus did god knows what else).

The eBay listing reads:

Don’t miss this once in a lifetime chance to for a real collectable here: Mac DeMarco’s old couch, from when he lived in Montreal, upon which he wrote the album “2”.

This has been living at the Arbutus Records loft for many years now, where Bisou the dog has slept on it every night, and we’re getting rid of it. Bisou will be sad to see it go but, with Mac asking for all proceeds to go to Rock Camp for Girls Montreal, she can’t complain :) *Dog and blanket not included with sale of couch*
