Freddie Mercury’s final filmed performance with Queen is set to dominate the silver screen this October, as the newly restored Queen Budapest arrives in over 2,000 cinemas worldwide.
Capturing the band’s majestic 1986 gig at Budapest’s Népstadion, the footage transports viewers to a sweltering night where 80,000 ticket-holders, and 45,000 more outside, witnessed rock royalty at its peak.
Remastered in dazzling 4K at Peter Jackson’s New Zealand facility, the film showcases Mercury in his crown and cape, strutting through ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘We Will Rock You,’ while beer cans litter his piano and fans wave sparklers.
The 25-song set includes hits like ‘Under Pressure’ and a haunting Hungarian folk ballad.
New interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor add emotional depth, as they reflect on a tour that ended just weeks later, Mercury’s last with the band before his 1991 death.
With a remixed soundtrack and IMAX screenings starting October 7, this is a night nobody will forget.
