Rock icons Queen have forced President Donald Trump to remove a campaign video from his Twitter featuring their 1977 hit We Will Rock You.
The video was originally posted by Trump last Wednesday, and by Sunday, the video had been taken down. Reportedly, the clip featured video footage of Trump speaking at rallies while the ’77 hit played in its entirety. And no, this is not Trump’s first bizarre use of a classic rock hit. Just last month, he was filmed enterring the White House to Metallica’s Enter Sandman… because apparently the White House wasn’t strange enough.
Queen have forced President Donald Trump to remove a campaign video from his Twitter account that featured We Will Rock You in its entirety.
Before the video was stripped from the internet, it raked up more than 1.7 million views.
Almost immediately after the clip was published, one of Queen’s representatives confirmed the song’s use was unauthorized. He continued to state that the band had “already entered into a process to call for non use of Queen song copyrights by the Trump campaign.”
In other ‘Trump vs Musician’ news, the controversial reality television star also recently angered Prince’s estate when Purple Rain was played prior to a rally in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Perhaps Trump should just stick to using tunes from artists he knows support him… like, I don’t know, Kid Rock or 3 Doors Down. They have hits don’t they?
