Save the date: On Sunday the 10th, November Camperdown Memorial Rest Park will host the annually awaited Newtown Festival.
Home to our own Happy Mag Studios, Newtown is a hub of art, music and culture in Sydney’s Inner West. Celebrating this vibrant community, this festival inspires and supports social change, with funds going towards the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.
Featuring live music, workshops, art stalls, and doggos, the Newtown Festival will once again showcase the vibrancy of its community at Camperdown Park.
The Festival will be run at the inaugural Camperdown Memorial Rest Park for its 41st year, with plenty of live music, food, workshops, art, and of course, dogs. Featuring its very own dog-racing event, the festival runs true to the history of park and local community, and invites folk from all edges of Sydney and surrounds.
“Newtown Festival truly is a Festival “by the people, for the people”,” says Newtown Neighbourhood Centre CEO Liz Yeo. “If it was not for our talented local musicians who perform for free, our local artisans and restaurants who take part, our generous sponsors, and the tens of thousands of community members who come faithfully every year to be part of the unique Newtown festival vibe, we would not be able to continue to provide the services we do for those people who are doing it most tough. We never take this support for granted.”
For its 40th anniversary last year, the festival brought along the likes of Young Henrys and Yullis providing refreshments; stages and stalls were put on by FBi Radio, The Bank Hotel, Heaps Gay, and yours truly, Happy Mag. So you can expect the same lovely, local vibe this summer.
Hang out for the entertainment to be announced, as there’s always an exciting showcase of local and emerging talent as well as some well-known Aussie favs. And make sure you get down to the park and experience Sydney’s most honest festival.
