Scatterback shatter the boundaries of genre on One Way World

Debut singles can be tough. Many bands take a while to develop a strong direction with their sound, and hence their debut offerings often lack cohesion. Western Australia-based outfit Scatterback, however, are not one of these bands.

With the release of their debut single One Way World, the young trio have quickly established themselves as one of the Aussie music scene’s more exciting and unique emerging acts. If you’re not already familiar with this band, we strongly recommend you change that.

On their debut single One Way World, Western Australia-based outfit Scatterback deliver a dynamic slice of genre-bending brilliance.

Throughout the new single, Scatterback stomp through a searing concoction of rock, funk, psychedelia, and blues to craft a sound uniquely their own. With deeply infectious bass lines, crunching guitars, and dynamic vocal hooks, One Way World is bursting at the seams with pure sonic energy.

Across the track’s three-and-a-half-minute run-time, the band pull in myriad sonic directions—they never sit in one place for too long. One moment you’ll be dancing uncontrollably to groove-laden beats, and the next you’ll be floating through woozy psych. By the time the track reaches its conclusion, you’ll have been roped in completely by Scatterback’s energetic brand of music.

These still may be early days for this Western Australian band, but judging by the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more great tunes.

In the meantime, do yourself a favour and listen to the new track above.
