J.J. Abrams, director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Super 8 and Star Trek, has announced the launch of his own indie music label.
Loud Robot will serve as a sister to his production company Bad Robot, and will work in partnership with Capitol Music Group.
Want your tunes in J.J. Abrams’ next movie? Start shooting those demos to Loud Robot, a new indie label started by the acclaimed director and producer.
The label will focus on “short-term collaborations”, which sounds like they’ll be undertaking mostly single-release campaigns, rather than going the usual route of signing and artist and keeping them onboard for long periods of time.
Loud Robot will provide Bad Robot with the opportunity to place original label releases in their films, which is an interesting partnership. Given how an artist’s career can take off after securing a spot in an iconic soundtrack, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
