If you take a cursory glance at the filmography of porn producer Gazzman, words like ‘classy’, ‘elegant’ and ‘candid’ don’t really spring to mind. While the world of porn is largely thought to be a seedy industry, a French photographer named Sophie Ebrard is clearing any taboos about what goes on behind closed doors with her photo series It’s Just Love.
For four years she followed the director around on his shoots, snapping photos from the sets of productions like Fuck Me In My Jeans, Anal Debauchery III and Young Harlots in Detention, aiming to capture a side of porn even the most avid consumers would miss.
15Amongst an industry pained by stinging reputations, taboos and conjecture, Sophie Ebrard is opening the world to the authentic side of porn you don’t catch in the videos.
In an interview, Ebrard described her experiences putting the series together, and what surprised her the most:
“A lot of people have very strong opinions about the porn industry, like [that] it’s a form of modern slavery, but for the girls and guys that I’ve met, it was just their professions. They are happy to be there.”
“Pornography is one of the largest and most profitable markets in the world today, and yet its actors and works are still subject to widespread scrutiny and taboo.”
