Prepare to get slapped in the head by Going Down, the new single from Shadows Without Substance

Since forming earlier this year, Brisbane based five-piece Shadows Without Substance have garnered rave reviews from punters all over the country. “Out of all the bands I‘ve seen, they’re easily the most recent,” said one attendee from their first gig.

They were very loud,” said another. And yes, they are very loud. Though we’re not complaining, because the music they’re belting out is pretty bloody quality. If you haven’t already listened to their new single Going Down, we strongly recommend you do so now.

On their new single Going Down, Brisbane based five-piece Shadows Without Substance belt through a blistering concoction of sounds that will stick with you for weeks.

Throughout the new single, Shadows Without Substance stomp through a searing concoction of alt-rock and post-punk to craft a sound uniquely their own. With simmering, slow-burning verses and explosive choruses, Going Down is a dynamic listening experience from start to finish.

Made up of vocalist Irena Exarhos, lead guitarist Jake Leite, drummer Tyson Jones, bassist Conor Doherty, and rhythm guitarist Aden O’Neill, the quintet meld melodic and hard-hitting instrumentation with infectious vocal hooks to deliver music that will stay with you for weeks.

Going Down is, of course, no exception. By the time it reaches the conclusion of its four-minute duration, you’ll have been roped in completely by the band’s crunching and cinematic sounds.

These are still early days for this Brisbane five-piece, but judging by what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality material from Shadows Without Substance.

For now, do yourself a favour and listen to Going Down above.
