Static Brain hits hard and purposefully on ‘Back Thoughts’

Static Brain (aka Liam Farquharson) makes music that will both slap you across the face and get stuck in your head. In a relatively short amount of time, the Brisbane/Gold Coast-based artist has developed a sound that’s equal parts hard-hitting and infectious; it’s driven by thunderous rhythms but flaunts some seriously catchy hooks.

With the release of his debut EP Back Thoughts, he has immediately established a penchant for crafting addictive gems of sound. If you’re not already across this artist, it’s definitely time you changed that.

On his debut EP Back Thoughts, Queensland-based artist Static Brain delivers a blistering and addictive slab of pop-punk glory.

All throughout the new EP, Static Brain stomps through a blistering concoction of hard rock and pop-punk, delivering something that feels simultaneously familiar and fresh. With flailing guitar lines, air-tight percussion, and memorable vocal melodies, Back Thoughts is bursting at the seams with sonic energy.

The EP’s opening track Mesmerizing immediately sets the tone for the rest of the EP. On this track, Farquharson showcases his rambunctious songwriting abilities, crafting a punchy slab of pop-punk. From here, songs like Repeater and Red flaunt a musical versatility, exploring slightly slower, more melodic spaces.

By the time the EP’s closing track There She Goes reaches its final moments, you’ll have been roped in completely by Static Brain’s no-bullshit brand of rock music.

These are still early days for this Queensland pr0oject, but judging by the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more great tunes. In the meantime, do yourself a favour and listen to the new EP above.
