Sydney Fringe Festival announce their first month-long Oxford Street takeover

Sydney Fringe Festival have just announced some simply massive plans for their 2018 festivities – a full-bore takeover of Oxford Street lasting the entirety of September.

From September 1st through to September 30, Oxford Street will bear witness to parties, art installations, and more, with a focus on invigorating unused spaces like vacant storefronts and venues which faced the brunt of Sydney’s lockout laws.

September will see Oxford Street come to life thanks to Sydney Fringe Festival, who are looking to go bigger than ever before in 2018.

With the festival’s full program set to be announced in August, details are still being finalised. However we do know that this Oxford Street takeover will be celebrated with FRINGE IGNITE, an opening party held across Oxford Art Factory, Eternity Playhouse, the National Art School, and UNSW Art & Design.

On the tail end, expect a huge closing night from the legends at Heaps Gay.

The Oxford Street hub will be one of six major precincts getting the Sydney Fringe Festival treatment – other locations include a Liverpool Hub in Western Sydney, a Circus Hub, a Touring Hub, a Dance Hub and an Emerging Artist Hub.

The full program will be announced this coming August. Stay up to date and grab any details you can on the Sydney Fringe Festival website.
