Nicholas James Murphy is a singer-songwriter known by his stage name Chet Faker, a homage to trumpeter Chet Baker. In 2012, he released his debut EP Thinking In Textures and subsequently signed to Future Classic.
In 2013, Nick Murphy won Best Independent Release at Rolling Stone Awards. His cover of Blackstreet's No Diggity became his most well-known hit, achieving significant national prominence. Later that year Chet Faker released a collab EP with Flume titled, Lockjaw.
Faker released his debut studio album Built On Glass in 2014, debuting at No. 1 on the ARIA Charts. The lead single Talk Is Cheap won the Triple J's Hottest 100 that year.
