Taron Egerton’s cover of Rocket Man for upcoming Elton John biopic is here

It’s pretty rare for the star of a musician’s biopic to sing all the songs on the soundtrack. That job is usually given to a sound-a-like or left to the original recordings themselves. However, in the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman, star Taron Egerton has personally performed every track.

And in preparation of the film hitting our screens pretty soon, they’ve just released the official video for title track, Rocket Man. The video sees Taron Egerton in the studio recording the track and clips from the film in all his glittered glory.

Watch Taron Egerton perform Rocket Man in the new official music video for the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman, coming May 17.

Rocketman follows the life of Elton John “from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin.” The film is an unbridled look at the ugly side of Elton John’s life behind the lights and the glitter.

Rocketman hits cinemas on May 17th, and the soundtrack comes out May 24th. The soundtrack also features a brand new song from Elton John, (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again, a duet between John and Egerton. You can catch the music video for Rocket Man by Taron Egerton below.

So round up ya mum, and get to the cinema this May.
