Team Dynamite make feel good hip-hop and are from Auckland. Their music will make you skip down the street to the shops, then smile and say ‘have a nice day’ to the cashier, and actually mean it. It feels like drinking cold cider at the beach with your mates, filling that sunshine-induced dehydration hole; making you feel a bit tipsy, silly and carefree.
It’s smooth, with strong vocals, really soulful and a little bit jazzy in parts, with little hints of the likes of J Dilla here and there.
They are Lucky Lance and Tony Tz; rappers, and Haz’ Beats; producer. There’s been some real hype about these guys, and rightly so. They’ve been snapped up by Red Bull, to play for Red Bull Sound Select at Tugboat in Wellington. They also just played a Christmas show for Vice mag; festive meets hip-hop!
Team Dynamite are also part of the Young, Gifted and Broke artistic collective, some of whom have collaborated with the boys on parts of the album, Shepherd’s Delight, which releases on the 7th Feb, and is available for pre-order on Bandcamp right now!
