Tegan and Sara are back with a bang, as they announce not only a new batch of tour dates for 2023, but also a highly anticipated graphic novel, Junior High, set to arrive on May 30.
Canadian indie-pop sensation Tegan and Sara have announced a series of new tour dates in support of their upcoming album “Crybaby” and the release of their highly-anticipated graphic novel, Junior High.Â
The presale for the tour is currently underway with tickets available to the general public from Friday, March 10. The duo’s new graphic novel, set for release on May 30th via Farrar, Straus and Giroux – Macmillan, is the first of two volumes in a series and features artwork by Eisner Award-winner Tillie Walden.
The novel delves into the twins’ adolescent years, exploring themes of coming-of-age, music, sisterhood, and coming out. Junior High is a prequel to the duo’s shared 2019 memoir, High School, which was adapted into a critically acclaimed series on Freevee last year.
In a recent interview with EW, Tegan and Sara reflected on the importance of Junior High, saying, “Tweendom may be nobody’s favorite era, but it’s also undeniably formative – a time when swirling questions of identity and purpose and who you want to be as a person start to solidify in real and surprising ways. As young queer girls navigating those rocky shoals and simultaneously beginning to find their voices through music, who better to speak to that moment?”
The duo’s new tour dates, which run from June to October, will feature support from Hand Habits, Dragonette, and Carlie Hanson on select dates, with stops in Montreal, Toronto, Nashville, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Boston, Asheville, Charleston, Durham, Atlanta, and Orlando. With Tegan and Sara’s infectious energy and their vast catalogue of hits such as “Closer,” “Walking with a Ghost,” and “Back in Your Head,” fans are sure to be in for a memorable night of indie-pop goodness.
