The Griswolds – Be Impressive

Following the success of their EP Heart of a Lion, The Griswolds are back with their debut album Be Impressive.

The Griswolds

You finish your margarita, frozen daiquiri or whatever is your tropical drink of choice whilst listening to the inescapable beats of Heart of a Lion. Suddenly you come to the realisation that the tropical island you thought you were on was actually a figment of your imagination and your back to reality…sound about right? Well you’ll want to turn your sound system back up and get ready to let go for the next installment from The Griswolds, Be Impressive.

Yes the wait is over people! The indie group from Sydney are back with a new album for us to loose ourselves to. Unlike the tropical sounds of Heart of a Lion, the new instalment Be Impressive will have you simply enjoying yourself while you dance your worries away. This album is definitely one that you’d reach for if you were feeling pretty shitty or stressed. You can’t help but simply get caught up in the sheer amusement captured by The Griswolds.

The digital album starts with 16 Years and straight away you know Be Impressive, is going to be a treat for your ears. The beat mixed with the light and uplifting sounds of the vocals that accompany an exploration of tempo, 16 Years is ticking many boxes. The song lights the spark that sets off the twitching need to dance. This is only heightened throughout the rest of the album and will leave you diving into it head first.

Beware the Dog, what a great track. Out of Be Impressive, this track shows the most resemblance to their previous EP and it’s a welcome reminder that The Griswolds still retain the tropical allure that they first greeted you with. The fast beat, mixed with the lyrics and almost tribal sounding elements. I really don’t have a negative word for this track. Just love it. Can you tell the simple joy this album oozes has started to take over?

Starting with a chant of “Be Impressive” the title song is both light-hearted and filled with an airy and uplifting beat. Continuing the theme for the album you can’t resist the urge to let yourself go and surrender. The Griswolds, I surrender to your exotic tunes and I shall simply dance with joy letting my troubles melt away!
