In terms of sheer influence and inventiveness, few musicians can hold a candle to Chuck Berry. Over the weekend we heard the tragic news of the rock legend’s passing, and the world has filled that hole with an endless stream of love, admiration and remembrance.
From the Rolling Stones to The Beatles, from Springsteen to Queen, the rockers of the world are celebrating the Berry’s life, for few songwriters caused the ripples of musical change that he did, years and years ago.
The world is in mourning for Chuck Berry: rock pioneer, timeless guitarist and loving family man. For the artists who called him a musical forefather, it’s a sad day indeed.
This is a tremendous loss of a giant for the ages.
