Recently, triple j got us to vote for our favourite albums of 2019 – and the results are in! In the past we’ve seen Ball Park Music, Ocean Alley and Hockey Dad top the list but this year there seems to be an overarching winner… women.
The album polls reflect that female artists have really hit the Australian music scene over the past 12 months, none other than Billie Eilish taking out the top spot with WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?
Australian radio station triple j have revealed their listeners’ favourite albums of 2019, showcasing what was a massive year for women around the world.
She was joined by a number of other female musicians including G Flip, Thelma Plum, Stella Donnelly, Lana Del Rey and Angie McMahon; the majority of which are Australian born artists as well. Further still, the top three albums of the year were all female led, G Flip’s album About Us taking second place and followed by Thelma Plum’s debut Better In Blak.
The other artists that topped the list featured Tyler the Creator, Holy Holy, Catfish and The Bottlemen and Hilltop Hoods. The station also later shared the top 20 albums in which artists such as BROCKHAMPTON and Flume just missed the cut, falling short of our favourites for 2019.
