PREMIERE: Tug turn up the groove on slick new single Through The Door

In the midst of an east coast tour, alt-rock outfit Tug have treated us to some fresh and soulful sounds through the release of their new single Through The Door.

With debut album Youʼre Not Exceptional Man slated for release in the upcoming months, the Melbourne boys are pulling no punches with their signature presence and unique brand of Australiana.

Through The Door delivers on the Tug’s signature style, striking a balance between dreamy keys, wailing guitar and relatable lyrics.

Made up of Mitch Peters (guitar, vocals), Jayden Hebbard (guitar), Edward Jacobs (bass) and Tim Bayne (drums), Tug has been gaining considerable attention with their intricate musicianship and live energy.

Conjuring beats in likeness to Badbadnotgood, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Dirty Three and The Drones, the boys continue to leave their mark across the local music scene through their hybrid mix of classic rock and psychedelic charm.

On the track, the chaos is turned down in favour of a slow-burning groove, rife with romantic undertones and heart-warming sincerity.

In this sense, the track stands apart from Paranoid Black Sheep, the first single released from the upcoming album, which was met with widespread approval for its hypnotic rock stylings. Through The Door adds a softer and more passionate companion to the band’s catalogue.

The group was formed in mid 2017 and for a band still in its infancy, Tug have garnered an impressive rap-sheet of gigs under their belt, supporting acts such as Davey Lane (You Am I), Leah Senior, and The Pretty Littles.

On the single, frontman Mitchell Peters says: “This one sort of just fell into place for us which actually worked perfectly because we used it to close the album. The last piece in the puzzle, ya know?”

At the close of their east coast tour with The Stained Daisies, Tug offer an exciting and promising taste of their debut album. Through The Door leaves you hungry for more alt-rock jams while simultaneously tugging at the heart-strings.

If you’re in Melbourne, you can catch Tug at The Grace Darling Hotel on Friday March 30. Check out the details on the Facebook event page.
