UV boi is a carnival of non-stop party bangers

UV boi is a young Brisbane producer making noise on SoundCloud and getting ‘L-UV’ all across Australia, as well as the far reaching corners of the globe. With, what he calls, “mellow yet heavy-hitting 808 music” UV boi can only be likened to such artists as Yung Gud, Ryan Hemsworth and Flume. However, these artists pale in comparison to his far more original sound.

UV boi If She, if He

Already one of the biggest names in the Australian electronic scene, UV boi has fans salivating for his debut EP L-UV. Until then, he has plenty of bangers to lose yourself to.

Since he began uploading music online two years ago, UV boi has been wooing the ears and minds of the Australian youth with track after track of melodic bangers that get your body moving and your hearts racing. Being announced as a winner of triple J’s Listen Out competition in 2014 was just the beginning of his rise to the top. Since then he’s played multiple festivals, had regular rotation on radio stations such as FBi and triple J, as well as claiming kudos from some great international acts.

Although we’re still waiting for the release of his debut EP, L-UV, we recently got a tasty sample of it with the release of If She, If He last November. Featuring vocals from American producer EASTGHOST, it sounds eerily sweet over UV boi’s signature hip-hop influenced, electronic vibes.

Another of UV boi’s greats is the powerful track LUV, featuring Fionn Richards & Brasstracks, which feels like a bunch of bass hits being dragged along by a crazy hi-hat train. However this time it feels a bit different to his other songs because he uses more organic instruments such as trumpets instead of his usual programmed sounds.

However, if you’re looking for more playful and quirky stuff, there are a bunch of UV boi tracks that use video game samples. One of the strongest is Sad Kong which samples the underwater theme from Donkey Kong Country. It’s a bass-heavy, roller coaster ride of a song which, when played live, he mixes with O.T. GenesisCoco to make the ultimate banger.

Recently UV boi has finished jetting around the country as a support act for Swedish Cloud rapper Yung Lean (and I was lucky enough to make it to the Sydney show). It would have no doubt been a great honor for UV boi since he’s made remixes of some Yung Lean tracks and has a similar sound to the producers Lean usually works with. Hopefully we might see a sneaky collab between the two soon!

While we eagerly wait for the much anticipated L-UV EP you can catch him touring the east coast with Dylan Joel, E^ST, and Kilter for the Tomorrow’s People all ages shows presented by Cool Accidents and Select Music.
