Rainbow Chan’s latest single Fruit is her strongest vocal performance to date, and also our pick of Vid ‘O The Week
This is the second time Sydney’s own art-pop darling and Australia’s very own answer to the enigmatic Annie Clark (aka St Vincent) Rainbow Chan has graced Happy’s motion picture pick of the week. The three and a half minute produce section love story accompanies the bonus track Fruit from her stunning Long Vacation EP, which has been released as a standalone single back in March. It’s quirky, it’s colourful and i’ll be damned if it isn’t the sweetest thing ever – kinda like Rainbow Chan herself.
Directed by Ellie Graham, you might recognise fellow Sydney musician Lavurn Lee (Black Vanilla / Guerre / Cassius Select) playing the love interest. There’s a few absolutely golden scenes in the vid – the very 1980’s dance montage towards the end, and Rainbow’s face during the foggy empty fridge scene is absolutely priceless.
You can join the super cool Rainbow Chan club by purchasing one of only 75 banana yellow vinyl pressings of Long Vacation, which comes with Fruit as a super awesome bonus. Links below.
