“Life is filled with abstractions and the only way we make heads or tails of it is through intuition”. Watch David Lynch ruminate on life, reality, creativity and film in new short film.

Shrouded in smoke and backed by a soft pink and blue glow, Lynch ruminates on creativity, transcendental meditation, film and reality with his usual poetic candour, offering up a flurry of interesting life lessons.

“Life is filled with abstractions and the only way we make heads or tails of it is through intuition,” he says. “Intuition is seeing the solution. It’s emotion and intellect going together. Personally, I think intuition can be sharpened and expanded through meditation diving into the self.

There’s an ocean of consciousness inside each of us and it’s an ocean of solutions. When you dive into that ocean, that consciousness you enliven it, it grows. And the final outcome of this growth of consciousness is called enlightenment which is the full potential for us all.”

Throughout the film, an eclectic cast of cameos and creative talents make appearances in order to highlight the benefits of transcendental meditation in addressing trauma and the epidemic of toxic stress, as Nowness notes.

The short film was created in support of the works of the David Lynch Foundation, whose aim is to prevent these issues from further spreading. Watch below.
