Recently, Marlin’s Dreaming swung by the Enmore Audio studio to dish up a delicious rendition of I’ll Stick By You. The Dunedin band were in town ahead of a show at the Oxford Art Factory.
They hit the studio with an assured sense of swagger, delivering the polished guitar-pop that has been a hallmark of New Zealand music for decades.
New Zealand outfit, Marlin’s Dreaming brought their hypnotic, perfectly pitched guitar pop to the Live at Enmore studio with their latest single, I’ll Stick by You.
The surf-inspired woozy strums and rhythmic drive of the song is the perfect backdrop for the heartfelt clarity of the Maiai’s delivery. The atmosphere is spacious and its narrative is peppered throughout with simple crescendos. The band definitely prove that less is more.
Reflecting on the track, lead singer Semisi Maiai noted:
“I’ll Stick by You is about me trying to convince someone that I’m telling the truth, even though I’m not sure if I can tell the truth.”
