Last week Mini Mansions dropped their new album Guy Walks Into A Bar. A record packed end-to-end with love songs, breakup songs, and everything in between, it’s an emotional rollercoaster soaked in dapper rock ‘n’ roll.
A few hours before his soundcheck at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, where he was supporting the Arctic Monkeys on their album tour, frontman Michael Shuman stopped by the Enmore Audio studio.
Hear Michael Shuman drop into Enmore Audio with a solo performance of GummyBear, a track from Mini Mansions’ brand new LP Guy Walks Into A Bar.
Speaking about the new album, Shuman shared:
“It’s not a concept record but it’s a record that was made, lyrically especially, in real time. So it was made over about a two year period and it ended up being a really personal record for the band, and especially myself.”
“It’s based on a relationship that I had, and I started writing it at the start of this relationships… and we finished the record at the end of it.”
GummyBear was the first single from that album, dropped earlier in 2019. On record it’s funky and choral; a danceable track that’s very, very different to Shuman’s take in Enmore Audio. Check it out for yourself above.
