America’s coolest president ever continues to impress. To celebrate Barack Obama’s 55th birthday, First Lady Michelle Obama threw a party at the White House with some of the world’s biggest musicians.
According to People magazine, the guest list was a sizeable smattering of celebrities and politicians. What we’re constantly impressed with is Obama’s capacity to hang with some of the world’s best musos…can you imagine Malcolm Turnball hanging out with Hilltop Hoods? He wouldn’t get the time of day.
Being POTUS pays off. Obama’s 55th birthday went off in style as he celebrated in the White House with some of the world’s best musicians.
The guest of honour was Obama’s favourite artist, King Kunta himself Kendrick Lamar. The American rapper has spent time hanging with POTUS before – the two met in the oval office earlier this year at Obama’s request.
Other guests included Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder, Usher and John Legend. Having that kind of pull should be expected of a world leader, nobody can turn down an invitation to party with the man or woman in charge of your country. In this case, we expect most of these stars actually wanted to attend.
This birthday is the last for Obama as sitting president; his 56th will unfortunately have to take place at a less exclusive venue. Glad to know he’s living it up while he still can – judging from current candidates for next term’s presidency, the White House won’t be seeing a party this legit in the next four years.
