Happy Mag’s guide to Yours & Owls Festival 2018

Later this month, Wollongong’s Yours & Owls Festival will return for another year with undoubtedly its biggest lineup yet.

With such acts as Angus & Julia Stone, Methyl Ethel, Hockey Dad and a massive stack of others heading along, this is shaping up to be one of the best Aussie festivals of the year.

Yours & Owls Festival 2018 is fast approaching… and we’re really friccin’ excited! So we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide to this incredible event.

Music

Ok, first thing’s first. If you’re heading along to a festival with this good of a lineup, you’d be a damn fool to make the most of some incredible live music.

While Yours & Owls will be boasting some real heavy-hitting headliners this year, we reckon there’s a tonne of good acts lower down on the bill.

Firstly, going to any event and not seeing Johnny Hunter live is an unforgivable sin – those boys are one of the best live acts kicking around right now, so don’t miss your chance to see them on the big stage later this month.

Also performing will be local favourites SOOK, SCABZ, Space Boys, and an endless amount of others.

Getting There

If you’re a Wollongong local, then you’re pretty much sorted. But for the rest of us, getting out to North Wollongong takes a bit of planning.

If you want to head in by train, the closest train station is North Wollongong station. The last train from North Wollongong to Sydney departs at 11.34pm, and the last train from North Wollongong to Nowra departs at 1.08am. Head over here to plan your trip.

If you want to grab a shuttle bus into the festival, the festival bus will run between North Wollongong train station, the festival campsite (Dalton Park) and the festival site (Stuart Park), running every 15 – 20minutes between 11am and 11pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Or of course, you could drive. But if you’re going this direction, do the right thing and carpool – it’ll make everything a lot easier, and be a little easier on the environment.

Planning Your Weekend

With so much to see and do, it’s important that you plan everything out. Get your hands on some set times, grab a highlighter, sit down, and properly plan everything out.

This way, you won’t miss any of the bands you want to see – you’ll be operating like a well-oiled machine, making the most of this incredible festival.

Unfortunately, tickets to Yours & Owls have sold out (don’t say we didn’t warn you). But if you did manage to get your hands on a ticket, we’ll be seeing you there.

Grab more info on the festival over at their website.
