It was back in 2017, with the release of her debut single Tomorrow that we were first introduced to the sprawling pop sounds of Alexandra Younes. The Sydney-based singer-songwriter has since developed her sound into something completely enthralling—it evokes feelings of both tenderness and strength, a rare balance in modern pop music.

Throughout the new EP, Alexandra Younes glides through a captivating blend of pop, neo-soul, RnB, and blues to craft a sound uniquely her own. With rich production, vast instrumental arrangements, and soaring vocal hooks, Head Held High is brimming with spirited pop energy.
Across the EP’s six-track run-time, Younes navigates myriad sonic territories—she never sits in one place for too long. This, however, is the EP’s most endearing quality. On EP opener Happy Ever After (feat. Nick DC), she powers through a piano-driven pop ballad, whereas on tracks like Mama Said, Younes’ voice thrives in rhythmic instrumentation and layers of backing vocals.
By the time the EP reaches its conclusion, you’ll have been roped in completely by her textured and immersive sounds.
