90’s rave sensation Guru Josh passes away at age 51

Guru Josh, best known for his 90’s hit Infinity, has passed away at age 51.

The producer’s agent, Sharron Elkabas initially confirmed the news to The Guardian about Guru, whose real name was Paul Walden. It has been stated that he passed away in Ibiza, where he had been working as an astist, as well as running a production company. His cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

The Jersey born singer studied dentistry before making the move to London in the 1980’s to pursue a career in music, where he began playing pub gigs with his band Joshua Cries Wolf. Walden quickly transitioned into the production of rave influenced music, where his first electro single Infinity topping the UK’s pop charts, eventually becoming one of the most well known rave anthems around the world. In 2008, the single was remixed and rereleased, becoming an international hit once again.

Elkabas released the following message, saying “Guru Josh was without a doubt one of the biggest characters in the business and an immensely talented and creative person. It was a pleasure to have known and worked with him – he will be missed. RIP Paul Walden.”
