Experimental electronic act The Convoy are back with new music and we couldn’t be more stoked. It’s hard to wrap your head around it at first, the combination of visceral sounds are a challenge to place.
Is it white noise, is it music? One thing is certain, it’s creative and unlike anything else you’re likely to hear in 2017. The track is called Rainbow Bridge and comes to you as the second instalment from their upcoming third studio album Heh, due for release on the 22nd of July.
With an interlaced narrative, upcoming album Heh is set to reflect a greater journey for The Convoy and their audience.
The track features an eclectic combination of sounds and not all of them are instrumental. A colourful fusion of an industrial fan, electric guitar, 1/4″ tape and percussion, Rainbow Bridge pushes boundaries and takes its listener away from their bubble of music they know and expect, into a new realm of imagining.
Almost a soundtrack to thought and discovery, Rainbow Bridge is different in all the right ways.
The duo was originally the solo project of Wellington based guitarist Matt Faisandier, which then expanded to include multi-instrumentalist Erin K Taylor. They’ve also made the trip across the pond to Melbourne.
The full album will be released at a dedicated launch event at Magnet Studios where Heh was produced, an exciting venue in itself. Magnet is also committed to supporting innovative music practice and processes. Heh will be released through Sonorous Circle, an outlet for music and art that challenges and questions convention.
The music video attached to Rainbow Bridge was made by friend of The Convoy Scott Mclatchie, also a musician, better known for his work with power noise band Diploid.
