Each of the world’s major cities have an amazing musical history, but London’s is especially rich. From the reggae/dub-centric Notting Hill Carnival to the rock Mecca of Abbey Road Studios, there are just so many critical cultural moments locked into the pavement of England’s capital.
Music History, the Twitter branch of tour company Rock Walk London, has spent some time digging into this history. A recent project involves them sourcing old photos of legends like The Beatles, Queen or Pink Floyd and pinning them against their modern locales.
From Pink Floyd to the Rolling Stones, most of rock music’s canonical acts have lived, performed or recorded in London.
What stands out to me is how little London has changed – given the emphasis they place on their heritage it’s no surprise.
