BIGSOUND has announced forums, keynotes speakers and a host of buyers and influencers for their 2018 program.
The music festival/conference will include forums such as ‘The New Music Business’, where participants can float new ideas for the diverse industry.
The second forum asks the question: “What would the current music industry look like if it was invented by our First Nations people?”. This forum seeks to celebrate lessons and ideas we can learn from Indigenous perspectives.
BIGSOUND has today announced an exciting slate of forums, keynotes speakers and buyers set to be a part of their 2018 program.
Some pretty exciting speakers are also slated for the program. This will include the likes of Virginia Grohl, mother to Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and author of From Cradle to Stage. The book met acclaim for exploring what it is like to raise a rock star, and how other mothers nurtured future industry leaders.
The second keynote speaker announced is Mardi Caught, a Warner Music General Manager who is now launching her own independent marketing services company The Annex.
“Our motivation in building this year’s program is to create the neutral ground on which our industry can progress in a uniting, nurturing and welcoming way. Our two first keynote speakers encompass this idea perfectly, with one of the most badass label execs turned indie company CEO Mardi Caught, and the mother of Rock herself, Virginia Grohl,” said BIGSOUND programmer Maggie Collins.
BIGSOUND will also welcome its first range of buyers and influencers from across the world including: Paradigm Talent Agency (USA), Line of Best Fit (UK), C3 Management (USA), Universal Canada, Maybe Mars (China), CIE (Mexico), DFSB (Korea), X-Ray Touring (UK), Domino (USA), Vinyl Me Please (USA) and many more.
Tickets for the BIGSOUND 2018 Conference are on sale now. BIGSOUND is also accepting artist applications for their program until May 17.
Showcasing artists are eligible for the Levi’s Music Prize, which has resulted in $25,000 grants to artists such as Stella Donnelly, Alex Lahey and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. Artists who have performed on the official BIGSOUND line up between 2013 – 2017 can apply here.
