Scottish indie rockers Belle and Sebastian are working on the score of a new film called Days of the Bagnold Summer.
Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Joff Winterhart, the film’s screenplay was written by Lisa Owens (author of Not Working) and marks Inbetweeners star Simon Bird’s debut in film directing.
Belle and Sebastian are working on the soundtrack to a new film directed by Inbetweeners star Simon Bird – expect dreamy soundscapes and lots of genre blending.
Earl Cave stars as a teenager whose summer holiday plans fall apart at the last minute, forcing him to spend time with the one person he was hoping to avoid altogether – his mother, played by Monica Dolan.
Other stars include Rob Brydon, Alice Lower, Tasmin Greig and Elliot Speller-Gillot. Filming has just been wrapped up and Bagnold Summer is expected to be released in the UK next year.
As for Belle and Sebastian, the outfit recently released a trilogy of EPs called How to Solve Our Human Problems earlier in September.
They are also to embark on the first of their Boaty Weekender shows – a cruise through the Mediterranean that will feature performances from Mogwai, Alvvays, Japanese Breakfast and lots more.
