With the release of their new live cover album, Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos—A Live Performance, Finnish “cello metal” band Apocalyptica have shared a new live video of Metallica’s One performed on cellos.
The release of the new video and album are in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Plays Metallica By Four Cellos.
Finnish “cello metal” band Apocalyptica have shared a new live cover of Metallica’s One… performed on four cellos.
Now look, I’m no aficionado of the cello-metal genre, but this cover rips. Clocking in at six-and-a-half minutes, the performance goes from whimsical string arrangements to full-blown metal. I never knew cellos could sound so bloody tough.
On this current run of anniversary shows, the tracks are being played with four cellos and a drum kit. The band perform covers of such Metallica hits as Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, Seek and Destroy and more.
Do yourself a favour and watch the new video above. It’ll blow your face off.
