We’re well and truly into September now, which means Sydney Fringe Festival 2019 is absolutely popping off. This year the event is bigger than ever, stopping by a number of designated hubs with all manner of wacky and wonderful happenings.
If you haven’t managed to join in on the celebrations just yet, there’s still plenty of time to catch some goodness. Here’s what’s going down at Kings Cross Hotel for the rest of Fringe.
Been meaning to get in on the Sydney Fringe Festival action? Stop by Kings Cross Hotel for a heroic dose of comedy, theatre, and the arts.
If you’re a comedy fan (who isn’t?) then Kings Cross Hotel will definitely be your jam. A lion’s share of the Fringe programming is about having a laugh, from regular selections of the festival’s best performers to a number of more focused comedy nights.
Every Wednesday to Sunday through September you’ll be able to catch Best of the Fest, ongoing sessions featuring sneak peeks at some of Fringe’s best comedy acts. The other regular instalment you should look out for is the XXX Comedy Showcase (Sep 12, 19, 21, 26), a show for those who prefer their comedy uncensored. Maybe don’t bring your mum to that one.
On September 19, 20, and 21 KXH will host Crazy Funny Asians, a showcase of the tightest live comedians from the Asian community. A similar show for the Brits is happening on September 28th – Best of British.
Last up you’ve got Wicked Women on September 20, a night featuring the most uproarious ladies Fringe has to offer, and Bad Boys of Comedy, a showcase of up-and-comers who don’t mind making a controversial statement or two.
On top of this, Kings Cross Theatre has also programmed a month of Fringe-friendly programming, with Step Up Festival and Popustairs, each supporting the next big thing! Take a first glance at the work of some of Sydney’s newest and most exciting emerging artists: actors, writers, directors, producers, designers all testing their wings.
