The news of the closure of the Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) earlier this year was widely mourned by the music industry as a whole.
Established in Berlin in 1998, RBMA had become a vital source of funding and patronage for new artists, particularly those operating in the fields of hip hop and experimental electronica, and their absence (they’re set to close on October 31st) will leave a definite void.
The archive includes over 500 lectures from a vast array of artists, including Brian Eno, Erykah Badu, Iggy Pop, Mark Ronson, Peaches and many more.
However this morning, on the eve of their closure, Red Bull Academy unveiled a new website hosting their entire archive of lectures, interviews and editorial content, for free public access. The archive includes lectures from a vast array of artists, including Brian Eno, Erykah Badu, Iggy Pop, Mark Ronson, Peaches and many more.
The website also chronicles the history of the Red Bull Music Academy, and is intended “to live on as an unmatched archive and source of knowledge for music-makers and music lovers everywhere”.
