The much-vaunted new platform in gaming, Google Stadia, is being offered for free in its full Pro glory for two months from today. In keeping with the world’s new-found need to stay indoors, this appears to be Google’s contribution to the cause. Alas, though, it’s still not available in Australia.
The platform itself represents a daring leap into the future. Instead of competing with the giant consoles like Xbox and PlayStation, Google is taking gaming purely online.
Google’s Stadia Pro gaming platform is offered for free for the next two months. The message is loud and clear: stay inside and keep playing video games.
So what is Stadia? Think of it as a Netflix for gaming. You pay a monthly subscription and you get access to a world of games. Current title include Red Dead Redemption 2, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Just Dance 2020, Mortal Kombat 11, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and many more.
Usually, the subscription would set you back $10USD a month. You’ll still have to buy games, but the platform offers up a few freebies every month.
Stadia isn’t completely hardware-free though. You can purchase a controller for the premium experience, but on the whole, Google is going for the ultimate convenience in gaming. Just download the app and you can use the computer or phone of your choice.
