“2020 Vision, Write in Kanye West.” Kanye West pledges to fulfil America’s destiny and build stronger families in his first election ad.
It feels like this entire year has been leading up to one, very defining moment. That moment has finally arrived. Presidential hopeful Kanye West has dropped his first election advertisement and it’s everything that we hoped it would be.
“America, what is America’s destiny?” West asks voters, standing in front of the American flag. “What is best for our nation, our people, what is just, true justice? We have to think about all these things together as a people, to contemplate our future, to live up to our dream, we must have vision.”
To be frank, this video is a work of art. We see some peak 2008 graphics of a U.S. flag ominously rippling towards the audience, while overlaid images of West and his monologue are broadcast. Urging us to reconnect with religion, West delivers his extremely conservative views with deceptive eloquence.
Can we also just appreciate the shot of the two hands reaching out to one another in, what appears to be, a murky lake? That is, for sure, where some cursed, deep-sea creature lives. The rest of the imagery is your stock-standard election ad; happy families, prayer, and wholesomeness. West even chucks a few family photos into the mix. Surprisingly though, he doesn’t include any images of his wife or children.

“We, as a people, will revive our nation’s commitment to faith, to what our constitution calls the ‘free exercise of religion’, including of course prayer,” West says. “Through prayer faith can be restored — we as a people are called to a greater purpose than ourselves.”
Although missing several key deadlines, sufficient documentation, and with accusations of electoral fraud also looming behind him, Kanye Omari West is still listed on the 2020 Electoral Ballet. Although listed as a Vice Presidential candidate under Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente Guerra, U.S. citizens have the option to “write-in” any candidate, whether listed on the ballet or not.
While “write-in” candidates almost never come into competition with the Democrat or Republican nominees, it appears that Americans across the country are already voting for the Stronger rapper.
The 2020 U.S. Presidential election will be held on November 3rd.
