Patton Oswalt received criticism after posting about his friendship with Dave Chappelle so he apologised and lost any credibility he had left.
The actor and comedian, Patton Oswalt, celebrated performing with Dave Chappelle on New Year’s Eve and posted a public thank you’ on Instagram ‘to to one of his oldest friends, calling Chappelle a “real friend” and “genius”.
Oswalt immediately received backlash from fans and he apologised in another post. So, not only were his fans pissed off, but I can’t imagine his decades old friendship is doing too well either.
You’d be pretty pissed to hear your mate apologise for knowing you.
Chappelle has of course been quite the contraversial man as of late, receiving criticism of his own following his Netflix special The Closer where the comedian described himself as “team TERF”. As a joke. Because you know, it’s comedy.
Oswalt went on and on in another boring, lengthy and out of touch post about Chappelle, saying the two “100 per cent disagree about transgender rights and representation.”
Come on man, did you even watch Chappelle’s special?
“Thirty four YEARS we’ve been friends,” Oswalt wrote on Instagram. “He’s refocused and refined ideas a lot of us took as settled about race and history and Life On Planet Earth and spun them around with a phrase or punchline. We’ve done bad and good gigs, open mikes and TV tapings. But we also 100 per cent disagree about transgender rights and representation.
“I support trans peoples’ rights – ANYONE’s rights – to live safely in the world as their fullest selves. For all the things he’s helped ME evolve on, I’ll always disagree with where he stands NOW on transgender issues.
“But I also don’t believe a seeker like him is done evolving, learning. You know someone that long, see the struggles and changes, it’s impossible to cut them off. Impossible not to be hopeful and open and cheer them on.”
