American alt-rock band Pixies have been busy planning a word wide tour to promote their forthcoming album ‘Doggerel’ slated for release at the end of this month.
To get things started, the Pixies have released a new single Dregs of the Wine from their forthcoming album Doggerel (BMG). Inspired by a particular timeframe in the lead singer’s life, Doggerel is an ode to the 90s in LA, frequent trips to Las Vegas, and a lot of drinking.
Summed up in Lead Singer Black Francis’s words “a lot of drinking, a little bit of drug taking, and some genuinely good times.”
Dregs of the Wine and it is the first Pixies tune co-written by guitarist Joey Santiago.
Chatting with Pitchfork, Santiago shared “I guess I was in kind of a zombie state, just playing. After I stopped playing, I put it down and went, ‘Well, that was a fucking waste of time, what a piece of shit I am.’ I beat myself up a lot, but my girlfriend, unbeknownst to me, was recording me. She played it back to me, and I go, ‘Fuck! Hold on a second here! This stuff is good!’”
Doggerel is out September 30 via BMG.
