Eleanor Dunlop

With a distinct hint of ’60s French pop à la Charlotte Gainsbourg, Carla Bruni and Françoise Hardy (truly the most beautiful creatures, makin’ the rest of us look bad), Sydney singer/songwriter Eleanor Dunlop’s hauntingly beautiful vocals and intricate piano-driven melodies will be sure to instantly capture your attention. After a stint as the lead vocalist for indie art pop band Cameras, Dunlop has returned to her solo artistry roots with latest release Rough Side Of Town.

eleanor dunlopSoulful crooner and Sydney girl, Eleanor Dunlop, will drop her self-titled EP on the 11th April. Join in the party on the 17th at Brighton Up Bar.

Rough Side Of Town, the second single from the Sydney songstress’ debut self-titled EP due April 11th, is an evocative narrative about relationships and self-appreciation. Dunlop’s hypnotic voice is one of a kind, silky smooth like caramel as it glides and dips around the gentle drum track, rolling bassline and intermittent percussion. She demonstrates an impressive ability to convey emotion, contrasting vulnerability and strength, urgency and calmness. The delivery and depth of Dunlop’s vocals is a unique and alluring strength that brings a sophisticated quality to Rough Side Of Town.

Dunlop wrote and recorded the upcoming EP between 2012-2013 while working as a groom looking after police horses for the NSW Mounted Police. A self-professed horse and nature lover, Dunlop’s appreciation for horses has only grown since she was introduced to horses as a young child. In Dunlop’s own words, “I am obsessed with horses. Anything horse-related and I’m automatically transfixed.” It was these very feelings of freedom, of release, of being her true self, that inspired her songwriting in the upcoming EP.

Eleanor Dunlop EP will be released April 11th. Eleanor Dunlop will launch the EP on April 17th at Brighton Up Bar in Sydney. For those of you born in the year of the horse (1990) get ready to party. Much equivine, such Chinese luck, many happiness.
