They describe themselves as poppy, electronic rock n roll, however if Phoenix and The xx reproduced it would definitely sound a little something like Sales. Similarly to the NYC based band Wet I looked at a couple of weeks ago, Sales are difficult to find evidence of on the internet. As in, don’t even bother trying to Google them, unless you want random sales statistics and marketing techniques.
Actually, if you search the opposite, ‘we are not sales’, then you might be getting a little bit warmer. The pair from Orlando, Florida are making dreamy, groovy tunes that are currently being taken up and down the East Coast of America. Touring throughout June and July, the duo are spreading their six track debut album far and wide.
The lovechild of Pheonix and The xx, with a dose of healthy Florida sunshine, is pop duo SALES. Fall in love with their music now.
Lauren Morgan and Jordan Shih, who work behind the moniker Sales, have a motto: ‘hot and ready’. It seems accurate considering their hectic tour schedule over the next month, heading from Florida to D.C, New York, Boston and back round to Florida where the pair are planning to cement their beautifully made music.
Their tracks Chinese New Year (which you may have heard spinning on FBi) and Vow specifically induce beautifully nostalgic vibes with their elusiveness and simplicity, while still retaining the smoothness of the key female vocals.
For such a dismal online presence, Sales’s fan base is strong and steadily growing. Their most popular track Chinese New Year has clocked up over 122,000 plays on Soundcloud and counting. So, once you’re quite sure what you’re looking for and you know how to find them, you can also follow Sales on Twitter, Facebook, Bandcamp and Soundcloud.
Oh the joys of the internet. So if you happen to have access to the hot lands of the USA (or the internet) be sure to check this funky, fresh duo out.
