The Ren and Stimpy Show was a pioneer in gross adult humour delivered through the cartoon form that paved the way for classic shows like South Park, Bevis and Butthead and even Family Guy in more recent years.
For those who don’t remember, the series was produced by John Kricfalusi for Nickelodeon between 1991 and 1995 and featured Ren, “an emotionally unstable chihuahua,” and Stimpy, “a good-natured, dimwitted cat.”
It was vaguely creepy and always a little mad, two characteristics that were captured hauntingly by artist Andrew Freeman who recently created hyper-realistic silicone masks of the duo.
This is messed up. Mad genius artist Andrew Freeman built two hyper-realistic busts of Ren and Stimpy that will haunt your nightmares forever.
The full silicone busts were designed and built from scratch by Freeman alongside his team at Immortal Masks, and they are being displayed at Think Tank Gallery in LA right up until Halloween.
Ren and Stimpy was always a little grotesque and this is reflected perfectly in extreme detail in the masks. Grab a bucket and check them out below:
