At long last! The Shrek soundtrack is coming to vinyl

Shrek‘s epic soundtrack is finally coming to vinyl, following a recent public statement by UMe/Geffen.

This means your favourite Shrek tunes, including Smash Mouth’s All Star, Neil Diamond’s’ I’m A Believer, and Rufus Wainwright’s Hallelujah cover, are going to be pressed to vinyl as of August 22.

Shrek’s acclaimed soundtrack is filled with good vibes, so it is no secret why this recent news is such a big deal to us.

The songs remind us of the epic journey, the hilarious banter between Shrek and Donkey, the stoutness of Lord Farquad, and the heart-warming scenes involving the princess.

The soundtrack of the great animated movie of our generation, which will undoubtedly stand the test of time, is now going to be printed on an analogue format. This is a fair homage to a great set of tunes.

Things seem to have gone downhill musically, ever since Shrek 1 and 2, given the Death Grips’ meme-like album pertaining to Shrek.

To press an album to vinyl is a great honour. It means that lovers of the traditional method of music communication, consider the album worthy enough to be analogue. Recently it has been announced that the Stranger Things Season 3 Soundtrack will be a vinyl release as well.
