Baby Cool unveils a new single and video for psychedelic feast, The Sea, ahead of her forthcoming LP, Earthling on the Road to Self Love.
Baby Cool has returned with her second single of the year, The Sea. This hypnotic folk-psych masterpiece is lifted from her forthcoming debut album, Earthling on the Road to Self Love, which is slated for release on Friday 10 February 2023 via Virgin Music Australia, Bad Vibrations (UK/EU), and Greenway Records/Levitation (US).
A striking follow-up to her earlier release, Magic, this transporting and melodious new hit, The Sea is foregrounded by Baby Cool’s heavenly, ethereal vocals, which have the power to evoke a peaceful reverie in even the most anxious of minds.
The Sea is coupled with a whimsical and captivating music video, with cinematic and dream-like visuals that perfectly encapsulate the song’s meaning and vibe. Filmed by Brisbane-based photographer, Imogen O’Doyle, edited by Tom Carroll, and directed by Miri Badger, The Sea clip is merely part one of a grandiose visual trilogy that is set to accompany the upcoming album.
Baby Cool is a new project, launched by Nice Biscuit’s co-front woman, Grace Cuell. With her glistening new hit, The Sea, Grace beckons us deeper into her mystical realm. Showcasing a sublime medley of psychedelic pop/folk with flourishes of country, The Sea was written by Cuell during a time of dwindling mental health, and later recorded with Sam Joseph (Family Jordan) in a picturesque studio shack in the northern rivers of NSW.
Speaking of the track, Cuell shares, “The Sea was written after a time when my mental health was so poor that I needed daily reminders of the magic that comes with existing in a human body.” Baby Cool’s debut record, Earthling on the Road to Self Love will be blessing our ears on February 10 of 2023.
