Barak Obama shares his favourite songs of 2019, and they’re spectacular

Barak Obama will always be one of the coolest people on the planet. Whether that’s him enjoying a Vietnamese meal with Anthony Bourdain, roasting Zach Galifianakis on Between Two Ferns, or being, well, you know, President, Obama has always been the face of ‘cool’.

With the release of his favourite songs of 2019 playlist, he is elevated that little bit higher.

Ex-President Barak Obama has released a playlist of his personal favourite tracks from 2019, representing a plethora of different genres.

The playlist seems to cover every corner of musical representation. There are the smash hits of 2019 with Lizzo’s Juice and Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road. There are a couple of rock stalwarts with the Black Keys and the Boss, Bruce Springsteen.

The more surprising inclusions come from the indie-rock camp. With the inclusion of two of the best songs by two of the best artists to explode this year, it is obvious the ex-President has been keeping an eye on all new music. Big Thief highlight Not and Sharon Van Etten’s anthem Seventeen prove Obama will always be cooler than you.

Obama’s twitter post reads, “From hip-hop to country to The Boss, here are my songs of the year. If you’re looking for something to keep you company on a long drive or help you turn up a workout, I hope there’s a track or two in here that does the trick.”

I would take his advice. Put on this playlist and get ready to turn up.
