It’s no surprise that the Barrack and Michelle Obama are tastemakers in the creative industries.
Alongside Barrack’s annual lists of his favourite music, books and music, and Michelle’s highly rated memoir Becoming, the Obamas have just announced a partnership deal with Spotify.
Barrack and Michelle Obama are teaming up with Spotify to develop podcasts and connect listeners to a wide range of topics.
Earlier this year, Spotify acquired podcast companies Gimlet Media Inc. and Anchor to “bring its platform of tools for podcast creators and its established and growing creator base to Spotify.”
This is not the first media venture the Obamas have undertaken lately; last year they signed a production deal with Netflix that includes potential films, documentaries, and features.
According to Spotify, this multi-year platform agreement will see the Obamas “develop, produce and lend their voices to select podcasts, connecting them to listeners around the world on wide-ranging topics.”
